How Water Source Heat Pump installation works

A specialist surveyor assesses your water source, flow rates, and any planning or water abstraction permissions required from the Environment Agency (or SEPA in Scotland).

An MCS-certified installer designs the submerged or buried loop collector and internal heat pump system, then applies for the BUS grant voucher on your behalf.

The collector loops are installed in or beside the water body and connected to the internal heat pump unit — timescales vary depending on site complexity.

The system is commissioned, tested, and handed over with an MCS certificate, warranty documentation, and guidance on optimal operation.
