What is the 0% VAT?
The 0% VAT on Energy-Saving Materials is administered by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and available to eligible properties in UK-wide. It is designed to help homeowners reduce the upfront cost of installing low-carbon energy systems and improvements — contributing to the UK's net-zero targets while lowering household energy bills.
This scheme supports installations including Air Source Heat Pump, Ground Source Heat Pump, Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Battery Storage.
Eligibility
Am I eligible?
- Any homeowner or occupier in the UK qualifies automatically — no application required.
- The zero-rate applies to the supply and installation of qualifying energy-saving materials.
- Eligible materials include heat pumps, solar PV panels, solar thermal systems, battery storage, and insulation.
- The property must be a residential building.
